Hi there, I am Mateo
I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn’t in the plan for the long term. Like many expat relocations, it began as a work chance and quickly grew into something much larger.
The first months were demanding — new systems, unfamiliar routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more burdensome than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, met other families, and began building something that felt stable.
Why I Built HivlunaVexdor
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- An ordinary travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers,
Mateo
